BIBLE: Kindergarten – 4th Grade
We don’t want students to merely take in information, but for them to apply biblical truths so they can go out and be character witnesses for Christ. Therefore, we integrate character development into our Bible program. 252Basics is a unique approach to curriculum in that it is built around three Basic Truths every child should embrace according to what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”
- I need to make the wise choice.
- I can trust God no matter what.
- I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
Each Basic Truth is amplified by a weekly key concept and is taught in a variety of settings. Character traits are introduced at monthly chapel gatherings, where worship & prayer time are incorporated. A weekly Bible story is taught in the classrooms and is further impressed in small group activities & group discussion. Daily homework assignments are designed to encourage co-teachers to interact with their children and help students establish a consistent devotional experience. Service projects will be conducted once per semester to provide lower school students with an introduction to servant leadership.
LEADERSHIP COURSES
5th-12th Grade
Legacy’s chief purpose is to partner with parents to inspire their children to be college worthy character witnesses of Christ. In order to live in such a way, we do not want students to follow the course of the popular culture, but lead the way on the narrow path. Jesus said, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it (Matthew 7;13-14).” To depart from the norm (“do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world…”) and walk a different path (“…but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”), students must be given the tools to think and act with an eternal perspective and a biblical worldview (…”then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will.” 1 Corinthians 12:1-2).
Legacy Leadership Courses are designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills that will give them the courage to step out as leaders among their peers. In the course of life, they must possess certain qualities in order to stand out in their spheres of influence and impact the world for Christ. Spiritual strength and solidarity of character are essential to face such a task. Over the course of their education, the Leadership Institute will introduce and discuss a host of personal disciplines, character qualities, theological concepts, scriptural principles and historical lessons. The Leadership Institute is meant to provide a curriculum that will serve as a valuable catalyst for parents as they seek to train students in character and knowledge of God’s truth. We pray that this program will be an avenue through which God can work in the hearts and minds of students and that they would become valuable tools for His kingdom as leaders on the narrow path to abundant life.
Please see the Course Catalog for specific Course Descriptions for each Leadership class.
